The condition of the eight-year-old girl from Magura remains very critical after she suffered two more cardiac arrests today, according to a statement from the press wing of the chief adviser.

"After the second cardiac arrest (today), her heart rate was restored following about 30 minutes of CPR. However, her brain remains unresponsive, and her Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) is at 3," the statement read.

GCS is a measure of a person's level of consciousness following a brain injury, with 15 being normal. A GCS score of 3 indicates a state of deep unresponsiveness.

Additionally, the child's blood pressure and oxygen levels are dangerously low, the press release added.

Yesterday, the child suffered four cardiac arrests, Bangladesh Army wrote on Facebook last night and urged people to pray for her.

A high-level medical board comprising specialist doctors of the Combined Military Hospital is making all-out efforts to save the child's life.

The girl is undergoing treatment at the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit.

According to a case filed by her mother on March 8, the girl was raped while she was visiting her elder sister's house in Magura town. Her sister's husband, parents-in-law and brother-in-law were arrested and placed on remand.
